All documents must be printed unless otherwise stated.
🟢 SAME-DAY LICENSE
Test + License Issued the Same Day at DPS
Step 1: Get Your Learner’s Permit (DPS Appointment)
Bring the following to DPS:
• Driver Education Certificate (DE-964)
Issued after completing the first 6 hours of a Teen Driver Education course
Printed copy required

Issued by the student’s school

Valid passport or original birth certificate
• Social Security Card
• Two Proofs of Texas Residency
(Or Residency Affidavit + parent documents)

To sign the DL-14A form
• Vision Test
Administered at DPS
Step 2: Driving Test at DPS (Will receive license Same Day)
Bring the following to your DPS test appointment:
• Valid Learner’s Permit
Must be held for at least 6 months
• Printed DE-964 Certificate
• Printed ITTD Certificate

• All certificates must be printed — DPS does not accept screenshots
• Missing or invalid documents may delay testing or licensing
• Paperwork requirements are set by the Texas DPS, not the school
• Teen drivers must meet all state age and permit-holding requirements

🟢 SAME-DAY LICENSE

Received by email after completing the 6-Hour Adult Driver Ed course

Important Note (Highly Recommended):
Adult drivers are not legally required to complete Driver Education.
However, completing the 6-Hour Adult Driver Ed course waives the DPS knowledge test.
If you do not complete Driver Ed:
• You must take the knowledge test at DPS
• If you fail, you must rebook a DPS appointment
• Rebooking often means long wait times again
For this reason, Driver Education is strongly recommended and is:
• Included complimentary with all lesson packages
• Available for $29 with most smaller or test-only packages
